The one thing everyone seems to agree on with regard to horse racing at the Ada County facility on the Expo Idaho fairgrounds is that if horses don’t run there this year, they likely never will again.
Idaho Entertainment, the company that was leasing the facility from Ada County, gave notice to Ada County of their desire to terminate their lease agreement after spending the better part of two years trying to work their way through the regulations and personalities of Idaho’s horse racing bureaucracy. Last week, our Board signed a termination agreement, effective January 1 of this year.
Expect to see a new Request for Proposals out on the street, seeking a new operator, within a few weeks. Until the horses are running again at the fairgrounds, if you have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket, go see Secretariat and don’t hesitate to take the kids!
Actually, people don’t “agree on” that. More accurately, they “speculate about” that. And why do people speculate about that? Exhibit A: your opening paragraph.
